LIV Golf, which Reuters described as bankrolled by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, held the third event of its first season at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster from July 29 to 31, 2022, with a $25 million purse. Trump played in the pro-am on July 28 with his son Eric and urged golfers on Truth Social to "take the money" and join the series. The event went ahead despite condemnation from families of victims of the September 11 attacks, CNBC reported. The PGA of America had moved the 2022 PGA Championship away from Bedminster after January 6, 2021. What LIV paid to use the course has not been disclosed; a House Oversight Democratic staff report, quoting The Washington Post, said hosting was "believed to be a lucrative arrangement for Trump, though neither side has revealed details." The New York Times reported in 2023 that federal prosecutors had issued subpoenas for information about the agreements with LIV Golf.
