What happened
At the September 26 debate, Clinton said Trump had called Machado, the Venezuelan-born 1996 Miss Universe, 'Miss Piggy' and, because she is Latina, 'Miss Housekeeping.' Those nicknames come from Clinton and Machado; no recording of Trump using them was found for this entry. Trump had criticized her weight gain after she won; a January 28, 1997 photo shows him greeting her at a New York gym. The morning after the debate he told Fox News: 'She was the winner and she gained a massive amount of weight. And it was a real problem.' Starting around 5:30 a.m. ET on September 30 he posted a run of tweets about her, and Reuters reported that he offered no proof of his sex-tape claim. Clinton called the tweets 'unhinged, even for Trump.'
