The exchange started after Cher criticized Mitt Romney during the 2012 campaign. On May 11, 2012 Trump had tweeted that '@Cher should stop with the bad plastic surgery and nasty statements about good people running for office.' On Fox News on May 14, 2012 he called her 'lonely,' 'unhappy' and 'somewhat of a loser.'
