What happened
Khizr Khan had criticized Trump's proposed Muslim ban at the Democratic National Convention on July 28, 2016, while his wife Ghazala stood beside him. The couple's son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, was killed in Iraq in 2004. Ghazala Khan said she had not spoken because she was overcome with grief. In a Washington Post op-ed she called Trump 'ignorant' about Islam.
