What happened
Cheney, a former Republican congresswoman campaigning for Harris, responded that would-be dictators threaten those who speak against them with death, NPR reported. The Trump campaign said he was 'clearly describing a combat zone,' not a firing squad. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes said her office would review whether the remark met the state's definition of a death threat. On February 6, 2026, Trump called her 'Wacky Liz Cheney' on Truth Social.
