Told CPAC a friend had stopped visiting because 'Paris is no longer Paris'
“I have a friend, he's a very, very substantial guy. He loves the city of lights, he loves Paris. ... And I said, Jim, let me ask you a question, how's Paris doing? "Paris? I don't go there anymore, Paris is no longer Paris."”

What happened
Trump used the anecdote while defending his immigration crackdown. The next day French President François Hollande replied, 'It is never good to show the slightest mistrust toward a friendly country,' Gulf News reported, and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo also rebuked him. He had used versions of the line before: 'France is no longer France' (Derry, New Hampshire, August 19, 2015) and 'Paris is no longer Paris' (Lisbon, Maine, October 28, 2016).
