Trump had used the phrase about immigrants in a September 2023 interview with The National Pulse. The Biden campaign and historians noted that Adolf Hitler used similar 'blood poisoning' language in 'Mein Kampf.' The Anti-Defamation League called earlier uses 'racist, xenophobic and despicable.' Trump doubled down in a Hugh Hewitt interview on December 22, 2023: 'They are poisoning the blood of our country. And I'm not talking about a specific group, and I never read Mein Kampf.'
