Said the DNC hacker 'could also be somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds'
“I don't think anybody knows it was Russia that broke into the DNC. She's saying Russia, Russia, Russia, but I don't—maybe it was. I mean, it could be Russia, but it could also be China. It could also be lots of other people. It also could be somebody sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds, OK?”

What happened
Trump added, 'You don't know who broke in to DNC,' and that what the hack revealed was that 'Bernie Sanders was taken advantage of by your people'. Eleven days later the Department of Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence stated publicly that the intelligence community was 'confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails' and believed that 'only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized these activities'. The declassified intelligence community assessment of January 6, 2017 assessed with high confidence that Russian military intelligence, the GRU, used the Guccifer 2.0 persona and DCLeaks.com to release stolen material and relayed material to WikiLeaks. On July 13, 2018 the special counsel's office obtained an indictment of 12 GRU officers, principally for conspiring to commit computer intrusions. On Fox News Sunday on December 11, 2016 Trump repeated the point: 'It could be somebody sitting in a bed some place.'
