What happened
A January 25, 2017 executive order directing the cutoff was blocked by a federal judge in San Francisco in November 2017. Attempts to attach conditions to Byrne JAG grants produced conflicting appellate rulings and were largely enjoined. Funding was not cancelled. PolitiFact rated the promise broken.
