What happened
A June 2019 executive order led to a rule requiring hospitals to publish standard charges starting January 1, 2021, and a separate insurer rule phased in from 2022. Hospital compliance was low in the first year and the rules covered only part of the health system. PolitiFact rated the promise a compromise on January 15, 2021.
