What happened
This was the first of at least three consecutive two-week deadlines Trump set in the spring of 2025 on whether Putin was negotiating in good faith. He reset the clock on May 19 and again on May 28 without ever announcing a verdict, then moved to a 50-day ultimatum in July 2025 which he cut to 10-12 days on July 28, 2025.
