What happened
On November 14, 2022, the day before Trump announced his 2024 candidacy, the Trump Organization confirmed that it had signed a deal with the Saudi developer Dar Al Arkan to put the Trump name on a golf course, hotel and villas in the Aida project near Muscat, Oman. Dar Al Arkan said the project would be developed with the support of Omran Group, which it described as the Sultanate of Oman's executive arm for tourism development. The New York Times reported in June 2023 that Oman's government is providing the land, investing in infrastructure and will take a cut of the profits, that the Trump Organization had already received at least $5 million, and that it would be paid to manage the hotel and golf club for up to 30 years. The Times described Dar Al Arkan as closely intertwined with the Saudi government. Neither company would say how much the Trump family would be paid in total. The Times noted that Trump sent Jared Kushner to meet Oman's sultan in 2019 and later called the new sultan to discuss the two countries' economic partnership.
