What happened
On January 25, 2023, President Biden announced the United States would send 31 M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Germany would send 14 Leopard 2 A6 tanks and allow other countries to re-export theirs. Russia's ambassador to Germany called the Leopard decision 'extremely dangerous.' The next morning Trump posted that tanks would be followed by 'nukes' and demanded the war be ended 'NOW.' He repeated the line in a campaign video on February 1, 2023: 'First comes the tanks, and then come the nukes. Get this crazy war ended now.' The tank deliveries went ahead.
