Mazars records obtained by House Oversight Committee Democrats show four stays at the Trump International Hotel in Washington billed to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates: $2,625 for October 21 to 23, 2017; $33,512 for 37 rooms on November 10, 2017; $26,168 for a military delegation from March 8 to 16, 2018; and $2,920 in May 2018. The committee's Democratic staff report, released January 4, 2024, counted the $65,225 total among at least $7.8 million that Trump businesses received from 20 foreign governments during his term. The report noted that the stays came while the UAE and Saudi Arabia maintained a blockade of Qatar that began in June 2017, and that Trump had met Abu Dhabi's crown prince, Mohammed bin Zayed, at the White House on May 15, 2017. On May 24, 2019 the State Department used an emergency determination to complete arms transfers to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Jordan worth about $8.1 billion. Eric Trump told ABC News the report's "narrative is insane" and said the company could not stop bookings made through third parties and had voluntarily donated profits from foreign governments.
