What the record showed

Google responded the same day, "We are not working with the Chinese military," NBC News reported; the tweet came days after Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Senate committee that Google's work in China was "indirectly benefiting the Chinese military." On March 27, 2019, after meeting Google chief executive Sundar Pichai, Trump tweeted that Pichai "stated strongly that he is totally committed to the U.S. Military, not the Chinese Military."
