Called China a hostile trading nation that would not be allowed to hold the U.S. hostage
“What has been exposed is that we need to make products in the United States, and that we will not be held hostage by other Countries, especially hostile trading Nations like China, which will do everything within its power to disrespect the American People. We also cannot let them continue to abuse us on Trade, like they have for decades, THOSE DAYS ARE OVER!”

What the record showed
On June 11, 2025 Trump posted that "OUR DEAL WITH CHINA IS DONE," that China would supply magnets and rare earths up front, and that the "RELATIONSHIP IS EXCELLENT!" On December 8, 2025 he announced that the United States would allow Nvidia to ship its H200 chips to approved customers in China, with 25 percent to be paid to the United States, and said the same approach would apply to AMD and Intel. At his May 2026 summit with Xi in Beijing, the two governments chartered a U.S.-China Board of Trade and a U.S.-China Board of Investment.
