Trump did not cite a source in the tweet; PBS NewsHour reported that he later told The New York Times, "It was reported this morning, and it was reported on Fox." The underlying report, in the South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo, cited unidentified officials saying Chinese ships had transferred oil to North Korean vessels about 30 times since October. China's foreign ministry said it had strictly enforced trade restrictions. On March 10, 2018, Trump tweeted after a call with Xi Jinping, "China continues to be helpful!"
