What happened
He said the same thing in other words at rallies in Lakeland, Fla. on Oct. 12, 2016 ("I know the inside and I know the outside. And that's why I'm the only one that can fix this mess") and West Palm Beach on Oct. 13, 2016 ("Because I used to be part of the club, I'm the only one who can fix it"). His signature ethics measure, a Jan. 28, 2017 executive order imposing a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying for foreign governments, was revoked by his own order on Jan. 19-20, 2021, days before he left office.
