What the record showed
A year later, on November 18, 2016, he agreed to pay $25 million to settle three Trump University fraud cases (two federal class actions in California and a New York attorney general suit) covering more than 5,000 former students, after saying during the campaign that he could settle "for very little money, but I don't want to do it out of principle." The settlement included no admission of wrongdoing.
