What the record showed
The Post's Philip Bump also recorded a March 2016 rally version in which Trump claimed to "know more about politicians than anybody." In his first year in office, with Republican majorities in both chambers, the Senate effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act failed early on July 28, 2017, when Sen. John McCain cast the deciding "no" vote; NPR called it a devastating loss for the GOP and President Trump.
