PolitiFact rated his March 2019 claim that "when the wind stops blowing, that's the end of your electric" Mostly False, noting that power comes from interconnected regional grids with backup generation and that renewables supplied about 17 percent of U.S. electricity in 2018. A December 2019 Slate fact-check found no evidence for his claim that turbine manufacturing spews unusual fumes; studies show wind has a small carbon footprint relative to other generation.
