In his words

Called Nigeria a 'now disgraced country' and threatened to go in 'guns-a-blazing'

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, "guns-a-blazing," to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities. I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action.”

What happened

The day before, Trump had designated Nigeria a 'Country of Particular Concern' over religious freedom. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth replied 'Yes sir' and said the department was preparing for action. Presidential spokesman Daniel Bwala said Nigeria would welcome U.S. help that respected its territorial integrity, and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin called on Trump to apologize for calling Nigeria 'disgraced.' Reports noted that violence in Nigeria kills both Muslims and Christians.
