What happened
Two West Virginia National Guard members were shot near the White House on November 26, 2025, and Spc. Sarah Beckstrom died. An Afghan national was charged. That night Trump called Afghanistan 'a hellhole on Earth' and the suspect 'the animal who perpetrated this atrocity.' A companion Thanksgiving post said most of the 'Foreign population' was 'on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels.' The post did not define 'Third World Countries,' AP reported. The State Department paused visas for Afghan passport holders and USCIS halted asylum decisions, NBC News reported.
