Said Putin's New York Times op-ed on Syria was 'absolutely true' and made Putin look 'extremely diplomatic'

What happened
Putin's op-ed, published by The New York Times on September 11, 2013 under the headline 'A Plea for Caution From Russia', argued against a U.S. strike on Syria and took issue with President Obama's reference to American exceptionalism, saying it was 'extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional'. Van Susteren noted that House Speaker John Boehner had said he was insulted by the piece. Trump said the letter made Putin 'look extremely diplomatic' and 'very reasoned', that other countries 'are insulted' by talk of American exceptionalism and 'that's what Putin was saying'. Earlier that day he tweeted that the letter was 'a masterpiece for Russia and a disaster for the U.S.' On CNN the next evening he called the op-ed 'amazing' and said Obama was 'being outplayed by, you know, Putin to an extent that nobody has ever seen'.
