Warren's January 2026 report and Protect Borrowers documented groceries, utilities, health care and college all more expensive; utility costs rose 35% with 14 million Americans severely behind on utility debt; credit card debt hit a record $1.23 trillion with delinquencies near Great Recession levels. Households paid an estimated $2,120 more in 2025 alone.
