What happened
The administration announced the rescission of DACA on September 5, 2017 and rejected bipartisan legislative compromises in early 2018. On June 18, 2020 the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in DHS v. Regents that the rescission was arbitrary and capricious. A federal court ordered full reinstatement of the program in December 2020. No permanent protection for roughly 650,000 to 700,000 recipients was enacted.
