What happened
The House passed the American Health Care Act in May 2017, but Senate repeal efforts failed. On July 28, 2017, the Senate rejected a scaled-back repeal bill 49-51 after Republicans John McCain, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voted no. A further attempt (Graham-Cassidy) collapsed in September 2017. The ACA was still law when Trump left office, with 8.2 million people enrolled through healthcare.gov for 2021.
