What happened
Three days later, after an attack in Pakistan, he tweeted "I alone can solve"; asked by Anderson Cooper on March 29, 2016 what he meant, he said "I think I alone because I know my competition." As president he said on Jan. 2, 2019, "I'm the only person in the history of our country that could really decimate ISIS." The ISIS territorial caliphate was eliminated during his term by the campaign launched under Obama; by one academic accounting, roughly half its territory was retaken under each administration. ISIS continued as an insurgency in Iraq and Syria and through affiliates abroad after losing its territory.
