No broad price reductions followed. By the week of Jan. 27, 2025, egg prices were still climbing, and CNN reported that Trump's team had already begun conceding there would be no immediate rollback. Overall consumer prices kept rising through 2025 and 2026; the 2026 State of the Union claim that affordability had been 'won' was contradicted by BLS data showing groceries, electricity and rents all above their January 2025 levels.
