What happened
No tariffs were signed on Jan. 20, 2025; Al Jazeera and NBC News both flagged it as a missed day-one item. Mexico and Canada tariffs came weeks later and were repeatedly paused, and the broader program was voided by the Supreme Court on Feb. 20, 2026 before being partially rebuilt under other statutes.
