What happened

The American Prospect and the House Majority Leader's office both catalogued outcomes at odds with the pledge, including the July 2018 Helsinki news conference in which Trump sided with Vladimir Putin's denial over U.S. intelligence findings on election interference, strained relations with NATO allies, and the withdrawal from northern Syria in October 2019 that left Kurdish partners exposed.
