His six-day delay in signing lapsed unemployment benefits for millions. He signed on December 27, 2020. The House did pass the $2,000 increase on December 28 by 275-134, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked a standalone vote and the increase died. Americans received $600, not $2,000.
