What happened

This was among his most repeated exclusivity claims: on The O'Reilly Factor, Aug. 18, 2015 ("I will be bringing jobs back, Bill. Nobody else can do it like me"); on Fox's MediaBuzz, Oct. 11, 2015 ("we're going to take our jobs back from Japan, and I'm the only one that can do this"); at a Rochester, N.Y. rally, April 10, 2016 ("I'm the only one who knows how to stop it"); and at Warren, Mich., Oct. 31, 2016 ("I'm the only one that's going to bring their business back"). Over his four years the U.S. lost a net 2.7 million jobs, including 178,000 manufacturing jobs, according to FactCheck.org's compilation of Bureau of Labor Statistics data. PolitiFact rated his promise to 'bring back manufacturing' Promise Broken, finding 'no overall improvement for manufacturing sector under Trump.'
